La Vie en Rose

Frederikke Hviid, WHIITE’s design manager, has created a feminine and sensual collection for Spring/Summer 2012, which is grounded in Frederikke’s own confidence in terms of her unique style and sense of quality.

The woman who wears WHIITE is sophisticated, flirtatious and she is always in control. She loves to be immersed in culture and the romance of travel. She allows herself to become so immersed by the charm of a city, to the point where she surrenders to it.

The Inspiration
Imagine Paris in spring, with the green leafy grands boulevards, strolling along the Seine, catching a few early rays of sunshine in the Tuilleries and of course taking in the view of the most romantic city in the world from the top of the Tour Eiffel. Paris in the spring is the inspiration for WHIITE SS12.

The silhouettes and colours are influenced by the flirtatiousness of Paris. Not only does the city take your breath away when you look at it, but it somehow also offers so much more; it exudes love, the promise of a flirtation, the tension caused by a touch and the sensation created through a stolen glimpse.

Parisian women wear their casual chic designs in stripes and polka dots with denim for breakfast and morning tea. Lunch involves a flirtation in the Marais in fine cotton voile with lace embellishments in pink and a silk cardigan. Afternoon tea at the impossibly grand George V requires a different look altogether; a wool suit which graces her feminine form, teamed with a silk men’s shirt in pink. She spends the evening at the Opera de Paris looking impossibly elegant in a silk dress and cotton scarves.

The Collection
The silhouettes are feminine, body caressing and are designed to accentuate the feminine form ready for a sensual flirtation.

Dress lengths are above the knee. Suits are lean and the shoulders are slim. Classical feminine shapes are in focus. New silhouettes are found in the trousers, where 70s wide-legs have made a welcome return.

Greys, blacks and whites are the dominant colours and are juxtaposed by pinks, yellows and blue. Colours are inspired by the popping of a cork of a pink Champagne bottle and the backdrop of the grey and sand coloured Louvre.
